FAQs
What makes CIVANA certification different than others?
Our award-winning resort offers a hybrid 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program designed to fuse the accessibility of online learning with the excitement and support of immersive in-person training.
What can I do with a yoga teacher certification?
You can apply for teaching jobs at gyms, studios, schools, workplaces, and more. You can also use your certification for self-care, self-study, community care, and liberation practices.
I don’t want to teach yoga but want to deepen my knowledge. Can I still do the training?
Absolutely. Many students take yoga teacher training solely to deepen their own practice and never intend to teach. Others decide during the training whether or not teaching is for them.
How much yoga experience do I need to have before doing YTT?
There is no minimum yoga experience requirement to join YTT. Some students have been doing yoga regularly for many years, while others have recently started their practice. If it’s something you’re feeling called to do, regardless of your experience level, we’d love to have you join us.
What if can’t do a chaturanga (or x, y, z other pose)! Am I still a fit for YTT?
Yes! YTT, just like all yoga, meets you where you’re at NOW in your practice. There isn’t a magical yoga threshold you must meet, certain postures you must master, and you don’t need to be able to quiet your mind for a 30-minute meditation requirement to start teacher training. You’ll learn so much about all of these aspects of yoga (and more!) during YTT and you’ll get a ton stronger throughout the program. By the end you’ll be able to do things you never thought you could and there will be new skills you’re working towards.
How much work should I expect outside of scheduled class time?
Outside the virtual classes and group discussions which happen 2x per week, on average students spend around 5 hours a week on readings, journaling, and other projects for YTT.
How should I be prepared for watching the lectures and group discussion?
• Your provided YTT binder and books (all provided by us when you arrive at the resort)
• A journal and writing utensils
• Your mat
